Many of the items covered on the DIFFERENT KITCHEN site have been supplied by labels or PR firms and marketing agencies representing labels and artists.We have no problem featuring projects promo'd like this, especially if it's something I would be into anyway, think fits the steez of the site and/or that readers will dig. This SoundCloud drop box will now be the easiest way for you to submit new music for the site and the primary place I will be listening to music with music sent in messages to the Gmail inbox taking a distinctively secondary position, especially if not linking to files uploaded on soundcloud . Favorite genres are (of course) hip hop as well as soul/R&B, reggae, brit poppy indie stuff, UK vibes (UK funky/garage/2-step/grime, dubstep etc.), DFA/post-punky electro-disco-punk and dance-rock sounds and rare groove/breakbeat/reggae reissue compilations. I will check out material by unsigned artists too but will be ultra-selective about what makes the cut. Note also: some stuff, depending on what it sounds like, may end up getting covered on my other blog, THE IN CROWD. Some additional submission tips: if you're an UNSIGNED or UNKNOWN artist I am probably not gonna check out your whole mixtape and this dropbox is probably not the best way to submit it still anyway. You should either upload a couple of the best tracks on it via the dropbox here or better yet, send a link to the whole thing as a soundcloud playlist or bandcamp (the new and BETTER MySpace IMHO) stream so I can preview it 'cos I'm not downloading an 90MB zip file by people I've never heard of before without some serious co-signs and even then.... For those of you who insist on still sending your music via the Gmail, I will not be checking it out if you send it with just a one or two line description and no real bio/background details or vague request to "Check it out!" :/ You should assume I know NOTHING about you even if you've made some noise on the blogosphere or beyond. Track or single submissions via Gmail will work better if you attach some kind of promo pic or album/mixtape cover artwork as well as your website, twitter, Facebook and MySpace site URL's to save me the trouble of having to hunt that info down myself or better yet, links for any YouTube or MySpace videos you may have shot. Other questions can be addressed by sending hitting the contact button on the site. All efforts will be made to answer queries but do not expect an immediate response as I have many other things going on in my life that prevent me from focusing on the blog like I used to.
