WORK // FLOW

Take a drum-part, add a theme and build it all bottom-up. To create areas, occasionally use different background noises of everyday life sounds, which have been recorded previously. Within the next days or weeks sum up further samples, either collective and/or separately, then finally arrange the ensemble until it dues to intelligent, meaty techno. Normally the track is ready when named best corporate work ever by both. Ideally this occurs simultaneously. (The exception proves the rule.)

WHO // SOFT SKILLS

Salt and soup. – Discovering individual artistic characteristics is proved to be difficult when two halves complement one another perfectly and form a unit. This is sort of salt and soup. In the end it is up to oneself to find out, who of Díaz & Parrée is salt and who is soup.



By their own accounts it is more or less like this:
Alex is often intuitive, while René works more systematically.
Both take their time to track everything technically and practically. Because of huge technical backgrounds they specifically come to quick results of high quality.
Sometimes Alex is too linear and René a little bit out of it. Both inhibit and motivate one another and in the end do agree, when something is perfect and ready.
(Oh, cripes!)
Finally it doesn’t matter who actively performs the process, as they often have the same idea at the same moment.
Very simple. Isn’t it?

WHO // CHALLENGES


A kind of relationship. – Every relation has its highs and lows, and even a big techno-love cannot escape from this completely. Who does not know these little problems: René is stressed out by Alex telling the same stories over and over again. Asked for Renés biggest kink, Alex replies much too adorable to cut his answer: “He definitely has kinks… But concrete..? When he is tired – and it depends on how you waken him -, he is grumpy, sometimes even in a real bad mood. Then only half sentences are coming out of him, also in SMS actually. Very annoying.” And so everyone has his cranks.

After all, everything is passable, when there are not only one, but a lot of wonderful moments. When common live-sessions countless times end up in euphoria and delighted shouting or furniture gets broken in a delirium of joy.

WHO // OPPORTUNITIES

Studio-lovestory. – As they are both artists and humans, they are learning from one another every day. “René finds a solution for everything. On that account, he is learning constantly, reads everything through and meets every challenge. Therefore I take my hat off to him.” René is impressed by his fellow repeatedly, too: “Alex is incredibly great with technique, is tough and never loosing sight of our goal. I am quite happy to have him on my side.”

WHO // TROUBLESHOOTING

Worst case scenario. – Along the lines of “We will never be apart” there still is the question how they would react, if one threw over their common proposal at once.

 Alex straightaway: “I would slap his face! And then I would tell an acquaintance to visit him and duly… You know!”

René briefly reflects. “Whew, I don’t know. Music is beautiful. Music two by two is even more beautiful. If we did not mix up our styles, I would likely become too blue… Oh, I simply do know, that we will work together for
the rest of our lives.”
