D’Fernandes foi formada em Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, no início de 2009, quando o vocalista / violonista David Fernandes decidiu gravar algumas músicas que tinha escrito e outras composições de amigos que admira. Em vez de simplesmente gravar a si mesmo com um violão, ele optou em buscar ajuda instrumental para dar mais profundidade suas idéias musicais. Com base na recomendação de Marcelo Cram (poeta / baixista), David busca assistência do produtor fonográfico e instrumentista Leandro Abreu, prodígio musical da cena local de Bh. Mais tarde ambos, Cram e Abreu vieram a bordo para integrar a trupe, e a partir desta explosão de química criativa se iniciaram as gravações do primeiro EP. Completando a banda foram convidados mais tarde os talentosos músicos Marcus Nogueira (tecladista), e o baterista Helton Lima, amigos músicos que acreditam nesse projeto que reúne manifestações musicais e culturais, brasileiras e de outros cantos do mundo.Sons que não se encaixam em um único gênero e desconhecem limites. A primeira performance pública para a recém-concebida D’Fernandes ocorreu no início de 2010, na cidade de Belo Horizonte quando a trupe lançou seu primeiro EP, “No princípio era o som” gravado em um home estúdio no final de 2009 sem apoio de gravadoras .A festa de lançamento foi realizada no Pub “Estúdio B”, onde ocorreu a gravação do vídeo promocional do single “Meu bloco pede avenida”. Logo em seguida as apresentações seguiram nos pubs Butecando , Alfândega na boate Hard Rock Café /MG Cine pub etc... e a pouco tempo fizeram uma pequena tour por algumas cidades da Bahia patrocinados pelo poder público através do : Programa musica minas, criado pelo Governo de Minas Gerais. O estilo de som contagiante da banda nova começa se espalhar como fogo em toda a região.
