Lukas Devita is an underground singer/songwriter from Vilnius, Lithuania, usually composing in English language and is one of the initiators of acoustic psychedelic rock in Lithuania also pioneering cosmic and mystical song themes.
Also he introduced to the Lithuanian audience the classic British and American psychedelic music and art in the form of articles, translations and free lectures in the Open University of Vilnius.
Lukas Devita also co-authored the first sizeable book on Rock music in Lithuania, published 2011.
As guitar player he performed among other seven musicians in Karlheinz Stockhausen's "Aus den 7 Tagen" premier in Kaunas, on March 7, 1999.
Exprerimental one-man project 'devita' was established as sound laboratory and form of study combining acoustic instruments and electronics. Some instrumental "toy-albums" were produced starting with ASTRALIA (dream records,2006) merging 'acoustic and naive electronic experiments as well as unearthly moods with some strange folk music feeling. The first part offers the free impressions of someone visiting the astral world. Second part is inspired by the idea of mysterious secret base in Antarctica.'
Next one, LIBRARY TAPES:SKETCHES FOR THE SYNTH SOUND FESTIVAL ON MARS (dream records,2007) was completed from the tracks performed exclusively on Polivox synthesiser (Soviet instrument made around 1985 in military factories). Some pieces form the collection became the basic tapes for Oliver Kersbergen of Sleepyard (Norway) to re-create and expand it to the ambient album WALL OF CONFUSION which is about to be released.
SPACE DUTY (dream records, 2008) consists remixes of 'intuitive piano takes and some old guitar tracks' and is closest to vinyl pop art.
Upcoming instrumental album is presumably called COSMIC FOLLOWER and the first track is already appeared in the compilation of homemade-lofi-psych 2 CD sampler SPACE IS STILL THE PLACE (HLFP-5, 2010).
The longest in making remains the song album with the working title STORY GOES ROUND and some old/new demo recordings are presented here and elswhere as well as first folktronic attempts.).
