Hailing from the Isle of Wight in the UK, Lloyd Shettle, A.K.A Deviation, knew that he would be fixated on the genre of Drum and Bass from the exact moment he heard that well known amen break. At the age of just 13 years old, Lloyd made it his mission to discover as much of that beat as he could, until he eventually managed to stumble across artists such as DJ Hype, Shy FX, Goldie, G-Dub, Bad Company and Grooverider. From this point onwards, Lloyd knew that Drum and Bass would be what would shape his future passion for music for years to come.
After loading up a small portable MP3 player with as much Drum and Bass as it could possibly hold, Lloyd took this and listened to it wherever he would go, being completely drawn in by that fast tempo sound. Eventually, Lloyd managed to discover more and more Drum and Bass artists through the internet, and his passion for Drum and Bass was also recognised by the local Isle of Wight musicians DJ Agro & Too Greezey.
At the young age of 15, Lloyd was taken under their wing and was taught how to mix, and was also taught the basics of how Drum and Bass was created and produced. He then decided to further his passion and bought himself his very first pair of belt drive turntables. By the age of 16, Lloyd had saved enough to purchase a pair of Technics which still reside in his studio today. After Lloyd's mixing started to improve, he also decided to start looking into music production software, and decided to try his hand at creating the music he loved.
4 years on, Lloyd is still crafting and improving his production sound in the drum and bass scene, with a few releases on various labels, and even a few of his tracks and collaborations with other producers being classed as "all time party favourites." Lloyd also managed to get a few of his collaborations popular on Youtube, with his and Too Greezey's remix of Delilah's "Go" currently hitting over 70,000 views, and their other project Illusive Minds also getting into the 5 figure view mark. Lloyd also has a track released on Levela's Multifunction label and his Ancient Myth E.P is due out soon on Suicidedubz Digital.
Lloyd says he is excited with what the future of Drum and Bass will bring, and tells you to keep his eyes peeled for what he brings to the table in the near future!
