@AreouTheAstronautMF: Nah man all comments are relevant they are to me anyway... just saying what we heard. Yeh a sub in a car will def show you whats fucked but its not a place to make a judgement as its a consumer stereo product so its designed to enhance and compensate for any for lacking or at least gloss over it. If your thinking of getting any headphones or monitors go to a proper studio gear store, take some of your fav commercial cds that you know and rate for the productions and mixing/mastering (and your own music, obviously) then listen through the various products and compare. A huge part of this kinda thing is subjective so unless your an audio professional everything will probably sound good (or better than your current setup) and its just a matter of personal preference. All good man we'r all driving towards the same goal of quality so i'm happy to share and learn. Sorry to Density for bulking out his beat with mad text.

this sounds great from my laptop speakers... for monitors or cans just get something cheap and learn their sound by comparing through friends' systems

@density:hahahaha at the cat - your biggest fan and critic no doubt. Anyway unless your in a treated room your better off using headphones for precision eq'ing and things like testing reverb amounts and even sub bass to be honest because without treatment you'll not have a clue about whats going on down there and make bad judgements.... but obviously good headphones like....Sennheiser 600/650/800, Beyerdynamic DT 880 (250ohm version with a decent headphone amp) or the Denon line D2000/5000/7000. Prices varying between £200($320) & £1000 ($1600) theres also stuff from Akg, audio technica, Grado, Ultrasone but these are the ones Ive tried and know.... you cant go wrong with any of those named but they do have varying levels of ability and obviously headphones arnt a complete solution. Better headphones, lower listening levels and regular breaks will help with fatigue, so will learning to eq troublesome frequencies that wear you and your hearing out.
Monitors wise like I said unless your room is acoustically treated a lot of your money is wasted on really dope high end monitors. You could just get the cones on the ns-10 fixed and you probably should cos cats will always want to buy those things, even though we've moved on from those crappy days. From what ive seen the cheapest Dynaudio pair is like £500 ($800) if your budget isnt even that then I suggest headphones and an ebay mission for a cheap pair of first gen Krk's Rokit 5/6/8's or Samsung Rubicon 5a/6a/8a (you get the idea) where you'll get the feel of the low/sub'ish bass with the 8's 8 inch woofer but you'll be able to check it on the headphones. Compromise being the name of the game unless you go for room treatment which makes pretty much any monitor purchase 100x better than what it would be in an untreated room. But to answer your question lol new monitors....something from Adam, Genelec, Focal*, to be honest even the fucking cheap ass krk rp6's g2 for like £270 ($400). I should really ask you your budget then chat all this shit but there you go you get the general idea of what I'm saying.

@Heavy Drama: thats exactly what I was looking for. Ill back off on the mastering, my cat tore into my ns-10 cones, been doing everything in headphones for bout 3 months now. it sucks, my ears get fatigued in no time. the effect was from a long glide time on the chops ran through a guitar phaser and delay. thank you for the disection, it helps immensely... oh, any reccomendations on new monitors? I was looking at the dynaudio's... bit pricey though.

Definitely works much better as a composition. Feeling it a lot more, love the chops and bass. My only issue is with the hard mastering, bro it dosnt need to be that loud. The master has killed all the dynamics of the track which is basically all the hard work you did in the first place and it has brought out some ear deadly peaks in the high end on the hats at 10k and what sounds like a 2.5k-3.5k moving spike from the filter (resonaces?) sweep that comes in on a new element of the beat at 0:23ish. Not sure if thats what you meant by comments but there you go just some thoughts. Props for working on it I'm always too lazy to finish the stbb stuff.

I got to put some more time into it. I don't care about winning but any listens/comments would be greatly appreciated.
