Originally from Belfast, Defined By Rhythm has been based in Sydney since 2002 and has been a significant name with in the underground techno scene ever since. Initially gaining recognition as one of the founding members & resident DJ's of [THE BOX], one of Sydney’s most successful underground techno nights. With the emphasis on quality music from Australian based artists and pushing the local techno scene.

In 2010 he co launched the club night, Disconnected Presents, and Dopamine's affiliated record label, Disconnected Audio. Focusing on the darker side of side of techno, and since it's inception, he has booked and supported artists such as Marcel Dettmann, Robert Hood, Lucy, Xhin and Marcel Fengler. In addition to supporting Ben Klock, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, Phil Kieran and Dixon to name but a few.

He has been a regular fixture on the Sydney scene, bringing his unique sound to club nights, such as Deep as Fu*k, The Likes Of You, Bread & Butter, TECHnique, Swarm, Pretty Simple, Kink, The Chinese Laundry, Spice, Lost Baggage, Bunker, Sundaes. He has also taken the stage at festivals such as Subsonic, Earth Dance and We Love Sounds, in addition to his residencies at both [THE BOX] & Disconnected Presents.

Currently, he has taken a step back from DJing, playing almost exclusively at Disconnected and for a small number of like minded crews. Focusing his attention on production before permanently relocating to Europe. Thus far, it has resulted in his first E.P being released on Disconnected Audio, a remix on IF? Records and a string of other releases forth coming on various labels later this year.

He has been described as "One of the only entirely, digitally based DJs (both locally and internationally) that pushes the technology to its limits and uses it to approach DJing in a unique and exciting way.
