About

Since he was a kid Alexander (aka Sobamonk, Deep Horizons, Elephant moozik, Seven sins) was fascinated by new sounds and began experimenting by making music with anything he could lay his hands on, from cassette players to synthesizers and computers. Alongside his musical training in piano as he was growing up, he was influenced by a variety of genres from Rock to Soul and from Hip-Hop to House.
His djing career kicked off in the mid-90s, playing in various clubs and radio stations in Cyprus, Greece and later on in Australia and the UK. By 2003 he played in big venues such as QBH and Metro (Melbourne) Cream UK and the Gallery @ Turnmills in London.
Using Deep Horizons as alias, Alexander gained support from djs around the globe. Most notable was his remix for Sweet Lullaby by the two-time Grammy award winners Deep Forest, which was released under the Canadian label Existence Records and reached Top 10 in iTunes and Beatport charts.
After a 2 year break from music production, he diverted his skills into Sound Design for Multimedia, TV and Theatre. In 2008 he moved to London where he returned back to dance music production, this time under the name Sobamonk aiming to achieve a more minimalistic, deeper and refined form of house and techno, quite different to the Deep Horizons releases. At the same time Alex attended a Master’s degree in Sound Arts at London’s University of the Arts.
Since then he has released tracks with kalimari musique, Littlebus, Terror Clicks, Shufflemood, fach and Kreativa Records undersobamonk alias.
