About
In the 15 years since Dee began djing with two hi-fi turntables at local nightclubs around his native hometown Belfast, he’s won Vestax mixing championships (aged 17) and he’s held residencies at legendary super-clubs Amnesia, Pacha, Space and Café Mambo in Ibiza during the 2000 – 2005 summer seasons. Since then his international DJ schedule has seen him grace the decks at prestigious venues including The Cross in London, Redlight in Paris, Trilogy in Dubai, Luv Club in Athens and Déjà vu in Bali. Dee has also been in demand in Eastern European cities such as Minsk, Kiev, Belgrade (where he played to 20,000 people), Warsaw and Vilnius at the recently launched Pacha. On top of that he’s had a line of successful releases on labels such as Renaissance, Audio Therapy and Duty Free Recordings, with heavy support from Sasha, Sander Klienenberg, Deep Dish and James Zabiela to name but a few.
Together with Graeme Laverty, producing under the pseudonyms Montero and Midtone, the pair have been responsible for tracks such as ‘Pearl’ (Duty Free 2002) ‘Brazilia’ (Renaissance 2004) and ‘Captain Hook’ (Renaissance 2005) which hit the DJ Mag Hype Chart and Beatport at No.1 in 2005, and carried onto be the one of the most downloaded tune on DJ Downloads to date. Their follow-up single ‘Hairy Hits’ and ‘Lose Control’ remix of ‘Phonique – For The Time Being’ also received wide spread acclaim with a DMC Buzz Chart entry at number 5 and airplay on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection. In 2007 Montero released their electro monsters 48K and ZX on Max Graham’s Re*Brand label, as well as remixing Flash Brothers and Moi Caprice. This year Montero’s ‘Hard Drive e.p’ on Ricky Stones Flat Belly recordings has remained in the DJ Downloads Top 10 for most of the summer and has also been snapped up by Global Underground for their 2009 compilation.
