DJ Wigs is a deejay who spins Hip-Hop, Funk, Reggae, and Soul. Never one to be put in a box he’s worked his entire career at being a well-rounded DJ spinning live at clubs, releasing mixtapes, showcasing skills as a Turntablist, and producing the very best in radio mixshows. Wigs was the resident deejay/creator of both the Gold Standard and Edutainment Hip Hop Shows on WUTK 90.3, served as the Hip Hop music director at the station during his undergrad days, and has acted as the resident DJ/producer of numerous other college radio programs on various stations throughout the years. He’s been spinning for over twelve years and has played opening spots for artists such as People Under the Stairs, Gym Class Heroes, Curren$y, Nappy Roots, Cesar Comanche, Big K.R.I.T., AWOL One, 2nd String, Kid Kola, The Theorizit, Supastition, and DJ Klever as well as others. During his time in Knoxville he played at the Kuumba festival, held residencies at Level 10, Club Catalyst, Hanna’s, and the World Grotto. Returning back to TN after a brief relocation to Honolulu, HI he had the pleasure of working with a number of weekly events, ran the HNL Hip Hop website, released his seminal Fall 2008 mix, and contributed mixes to Jimmy Taco’s Mind Tactics show on KIKI 93.9. Wigs’ selections generally consist of a balanced blend of early 90′s classic Hip Hop alongside newer true school joints. mixed with a healthy does of Reggae, Funk, Soul, and even Disco and EDM infused into the mix depending on the time and place. Quality music is always the bottom line.
