Love Boat Theme (a Discobody luv-promise)
María del Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Gutiérrez de los Perales Santa Ana Romanguera y de la Hinojosa Rasten or simply Charo, is a Spanish-American actress, comedienne & flamenco guitarist, famous for her flamboyant stage persona, her extravagant outfits, her cuchi-cuchi dance moves and her eccentric English accent…
She often appeared in many TV shows from the mid-60s till now (her latest appearance being in RuPaul’s Drag U as a celebrity guest). During the 70’s/80’s she participated eight times on the very successful American TV show The Love Boat as April Lopez (does that bring to your mind another recent Latina actress, singer, dancer, TV personality with that surname?)
She has released 3 albums produced by none other than Tom Moulton!!, the first two accompanied by Salsoul Orchestra, on Salsoul Records of course. “Love Boat Theme” is taken from her 1978 LP “Olé Olé”.
On this edit I make a DJ friendly long intro to put u in the mood for dancing and at the same time keep u eager to sing along this beloved memory-trigger TV-series theme.. Also I replace some vocals, but that u do expect it from me I suppose :)
