Born “Darrell Laprice Smith”, better known by his stage name “De Capone”, is an African-American underground rapper/producer/songwriter born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, California. He was 1/3 of the group "Rich Gang" and Co founder of Dramaside Muzik. As a young'n coming up in the streets of Los Angeles, De Capone was exposed to alot, from the up bringing of his mother, uncles, aunts and grandparents in South Central LA. to the weekends with his father on the east side of L.A.. In the early 90's, De Capone transitioned to Hawthorne with his Mother and 5 siblings (including 4Cuz aka Nova Da Kane and Louie The Don), where he attended Leuzinger Senior High in Lawndale. During his high school years, even though had resided in Hawthorne though he kept close ties his area, which was his grandparents house on the west side in South Central. At age 13, De Capone started to get familiar with the law, by 16 he ended up with a 8 month vacation @ Camp Paige (fire camp) for possession of a fire arm. While incarcerated, De Capone took a liking to 2Pacs "Me Against The World" (while already been accustom to N.W.A, Snoop Dogg, Dj Quik and other West Coast rappers who he favors) and played around with the freestyling. De Capone eventually ended up back in his neighborhood with a girlfriend. Although De Capone enjoyed freestyling over Pac tracks, he had responsibilities, so the rapping professionally never really crossed his mind. To make a long story short, Capone went on another vacation, but this time it would'nt be so short. 1999, Capone caught a 5 year 10 month sentence for armed robbery, which he spent his time in Florence Federal Correctional Institution/United States Penetentairy( medium and maximum security prisons ), located in Florence, Colorado 90 miles south of Denver, 45 miles south of Colorado Springs, and 40 miles west of Pueblo. During his stay in federal prison,(drove from the early 90's rap mainly west coast and oldies) De Capone decided he needed to tell his story. So that’s when he found his passion for writing music. 2004 December 22, De Capone was released and three months later recorded his first song called "Go Hard Or Go Home" with little brother Louie The Don and big cousin Skhared For Life. It was recorded in Compton @ Mr. West Sides' Studio, a friend of Skhars'. From there on De Capone and his brothers (4cuz aka Nova Da Kane and Louie The Don) started piecing together a home studio in San Bernardino and recorded a track called "Make that Ass Pop" to a Bubba Sparxxx instrumentral. The song was performed @the Rhythm Lounge in Long Beach, California. After performing @ there first show, De Capone and his brother 4Cuz continued recording and producing their own music and took on a few more shows at the Rhythm Lounge and other venues such as Famous Stevies Cafe in Encino, Ca, and The Dragonfly in Hollywood, California where they have opened up for artist such as Bad Azz, 2ND To None and Tha Dogg Pound. De Capone considers his music genre West Coast hip hop/hardcore and his slogan is "Lets Get It Poppin". Capones' Ultimate Goals in music is to become a successful artist/producer/songwriter/entrepreneur. Capones' ultimate goals in life are to be the best father he can to his kids and to set up a stable foundation so that everybody after him has a chance to succeed in this game we call life. De Capone describes "WOMEN" as "Gods Greatest Gift" period!. Besides music, De Capones' other concerns are, first and foremost, his family and making sure they're on the right path. The separation between the black race has always been a concern to Capone'. "Without unity, we can never really prosper" are his thoughts. On another note, De Capone has other goals he wants to achieve besides his music career and that is writing books and film scripts. But until then check out the official mixtape "DE CAPONE VOL. 1" and songs from the second up n coming mixtape "DE CAP SHIT BANG"
