Davis Hill is a Spokane-based composer focusing on experimental forms and genres, from electroacoustics to sound art, as well as the interactions between improvisation, unconventional performance practice, and musical narrative.
Recently, Davis had the pleasure of presenting his fixed media piece “Life 6″ at the Electronic Music Midwest festival in Kansas City, recording Agrippa for Dancing for the Flesh’s 2014 album, and conducting Lilac City Performing Arts’ October production of “Carrie: The Musical.”
He currently serves as Musical Director for Lilac City Performing Arts and Choir Director for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and teaches privately at Amend Music Center. As a multi-instrumentalist performer/composer, Davis has appeared as a pianist, vocalist, clarinetist, percussionist, conductor, and electronic musician. Additionally, he enjoys helping others unlock their creative potential, and has maintained a private teaching studio since 2010.
Davis holds a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Eastern Washington University. At Eastern he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Sigma Alpha Lambda, was awarded the coveted Frances B. Huston Medallion, and graduated summa cum laude with honors ad majorem. He attended Shorewood High School, where he was a member of the award-winning Shorewood Jazz Band.
