About it began in africa
it began in africa - the official kittball records charity project in cooperation with the african childrens choir
Electronic Music Scene Expresses Solidarity with Africa
Of course, everybody has a clear idea, when thinking of DJ’s.
They are flown in, stay in a luxurious hotel, are invited to dinners and drinks and even get, sometimes a decent, lolly.
And the cheerful club scene celebrates keen and generous too. In fact there is nothing to be said against it. However, in our fast-moving business we should not forget those people on our planet who could exist a month or longer from one of your club visits.
And what has Africa to do with it?
The electronic scene often uses African influenced music and rhythm. DJ's are sampling recordings and percussions of African origin and have big success with these. Meanwhile the political situation all over the world is reaching a constantly bigger imbalance from which the poorest in Africa suffer from, most of all. Especially children take it very hard. They're growing up in environs without any chances at all and so often they have to bare a live under inhuman circumstances. No education, no medical supply and worst of all, not enough to eat.
To fight against this constantly getting worse situation, and to get a support for these people, the Charity Project 'it began in Africa' from Juliet Sikora and Tube & Berger was invented. Together with other artists from the electronic music scene we want to give a sign to cause people to do something.
In cooperation with the charity organisation 'The African Children's Choir™' well-known artists and DJ's will release a remix compilation on the basis of 15 songs from an African children choir. Already now the interest, even from real famous DJ's, is enormous. In spite of full appointments books and touring dates throughout the world, several DJ’s want to join the project and chip in a remix. Present are e.g.: „Timo Maas“, „Ida Engberg“, „Format B“, „Martin Eyerer“, „Namito“, „Daniel Steinberg“ and of course „Juliet Sikora“ and „Tube & Berger“. These mixes can then be heard on the Remix-Compilation „it began in Africa“.
The complete receipts will be donated to the children’s choir and their further projects. E.g. building projects, to help founding more nurseries, schools and music schools in the most affected African areas and get children away from the street. We sincerely hope, with this project, to be able to assist Africa in some way; empower for self-help.

This reminds me of "Mory Kante - Yeke yeke" and Deep forest - "Sweet lullaby". It's got a great groove when the drums come in, we are supporting this 100%, and hopefully it makes a difference to the good cause it supports !!

I like this vocal bit with the melody, really sweet. Superb work as a whole. Picked it up along with Namito's 'Green Heart'.
