Bio:
David Blake, better known to many by his stage name, David Stones was born July 31st 1988 in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York. David Stones is the Co-founder of the District of Hip Hop/DOHH Squad and the cousin of Kenyatta Blake aka Buckshot who is a fellow Brooklyn-bred emcee and Co-CEO of the storied independent label Duck Down Music Inc.
While growing up David gravitated towards artist who took pride in their lyrics and often incorporated vivid social commentary into their music such as the Wu Tang Clan, Jay-Z, Tupac Shakur and Nas to name a few. After writing his first 16 bar verse at the age of 9 and honing his craft for the next 5 years David formed a group of his own with his now deceased childhood friend Dominick "Domo" Bunch under the name Styxx ‘N Stones while they both were freshmen in High School.
In January of 2009 David Stones (then simply known as, Stones) signed with the New York based management company Gallic Wars Mixtapes. During his stint with Gallic Wars he appeared on numerous Mixtape covers co-hosting alongside radio personalities like New York’s own Angela Yee & North Carolina’s Nikki Nicole to name a few. In late 2010 Gallic Wars management was dismantled by the company's CEO so David delayed releasing any new music or videos for the rest of the year and the following year in a effort to gain full control of his career and get his company District of Hip Hop off the ground. During that time he prepared for the 1st official release of the company: The Steppin' Stone: All or Nuthin'.
