“Internal Temporal Order” is the debut solo album from David Evans, drummer of acclaimed Australian instrumental band This is Your Captain Speaking, released 28 May 2011 on Sensory Projects. With 5 of the album’s 8 tracks recorded during 24 hours of continuous work as part of The 24 Hour Drawing Project, “Internal Temporal Order” moves from the space-pop of album opener ”1am to 2am” to the hypnotic beats of the album's title track, improvised ambient pieces and a dead-pan cover of the Kraftwerk classic “Trans-Europe Express”.
SELECTED PRESS QUOTES
“A sparse mesmerising work that is so much more than the sum of its parts. It’s music that hypnotises you, in fact it’s only midway through the album that it becomes obvious that aside from a few deviations, it’s music created solely from percussive instruments…simply put it’s beautiful music that defies categorisation.”
– Inpress
“Internal Temporal Order is made entirely from things that can be banged and scraped - specifically a simple drum kit and a select few percussive instruments and, although his choice is small, Evans' musical palette is expansive…Evans has ventured out into a dry and inhospitable audio phonic desert and despite all odds found water. I hope you enjoy his debut immensely.”
– TwoThousand
“Evans has taken a tricky premise and delivered an album that’s pure and warm rather than mechanical and cold. And though built from percussive devices, it reveals a surprising degree of melodicism… Evans has said he wanted to make an electronic-inspired album using acoustic instruments, and that he did. But there’s much more to Internal Temporal Order than its unique brief and birth. Every moment teems with the possibility presented by divergent paths and the odd magic yielded by sheer accident.”
– Mess+Noise
“David Evans' sublime cover of the Kraftwerk classic, 'Trans-Europe Express' needs no introduction; simple, deeply grooved and seminal.”
– AMPRAP
“Kraftwerk have never felt so earthy, so organic.”
