Itʼs that time again – Workparty 3 is here!!
&ME opens the new cycle, thatʼs projecting the state of play within the Keinemusik-camp, with his very own version of autogenic training. Hearing these soothing vocals, one might mistake this for some kind of floor-séance. But, of course, “Everless” wonʼt let you sink into deep relaxation. Au contraire – its percussive core comes likes a swarm of hungry hornets, converging as an Acid-Drone and its relentless pumping groove cuts through within cleverly modulated peaktime-passages.
Next in line, Adam Port gets in touch with his percussive fetish once again, pushing into new dimensions with the appropriately named “Drums on Parade”. Port seems to find himself in the middle of a military parade, avoiding all overstated rigor through revealing hints of Jazz and some serious shaker-temperament. As the centrepiece of the arrangement, youʼll find a drumsolo that never loses sight of its goal. Thanks to Ports effective and dynamic buildup, we're treated to yet another floor wrecker from the label boss. Hold tight!
Rampaʼs collaboration with Hollis P. Monroe opens the flipside with a more mellow affair. Monroeʼs Canadian buddy Overnite croons his take on post-breakup-blues over a straight-up and deep arrangement thatʼs seasoned by lashing claps and some mild synth-flavor. Overnite, the wise man that he is, doesn't wallow in whiny melancholy, capturing every glimpse of hope he can get, he delivers some of the catchiest vocals you will meet this season accompanied by a soul-fueled House-anthem. Destined for the twilight hours of all the coming open air parties.
David Mayer's productions never seem to indicate the current position of the sun. Most at home in the cellars, bunkers and basements, they are most potent when in an environment with little natural light. We can revel in his technoid bounce and studied rhythms. "Jewels" already a classic Mayer.
