About
The son of an audiophile, DAVID LAFONTAINE has always had a profound love for sound and for the sharing of music. From the age of 12, he began cutting his first remixes and mixtapes from songs recorded and manipulated from records and the radio.
In university he began a partnership with G-Rawk, sharing countless nights ripping it behind the decks from basements to lofts to rooftop terraces; he also branched from traditional DJing to develop DJ-inspired soundtracks for contemporary dance works, working as a sound consultant and audio montage artist for choreographers. To date his soundscapes have been heard at Place des Arts 5e Salle, Toronto Alternative Fashion Week (FAT), Big Art for Little Minds, and Festival Transatlantique.
In 2008, David was invited to create a custom mix for Café Carpe Diem in Paris, a consistent favorite amongst fans. You can download it here: David Lafontaine - Seize the Day (Cafe Carpe Diem) (2008) by David Lafontaine . He most recently joined as resident DJ with impro-movement league Les Imprudanses (http://www.imprudanses.com), aligned himself with 10x10 (formerly Montréal Je T'adore), and recorded and produced for up-and-coming Montreal rapper Deprisk.
David plays regularly in Montreal; find him on facebook for regular updates. He will play anything from Downtempo to Dubstep to Deep Tech and everything in between; modern, minimal, and always magical.
