About

An honors graduate from the Atlanta Institute of Music, David has eight published books with Hal Leonard, Cherry Lane, and Centerstream Publications.
A professional music instructor for two decades, David has taught hundreds of students across the U.S., including classes for the National Guitar Workshop (NGW), School of Rock, and Ivy Tech College.
David and his books have been featured in the pages of Premier Guitar, Guitar World, and Guitar One magazine.

In addition to his educational and teaching background, David has been a touring/performing musician for over half of his life, which began professionally at the age of 15.
David has shared the stage with an interesting array of bands and artists, such as Cheap Trick, Quiet Riot, and Blue Oyster Cult, to the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, and more.

David's taste and influence in music is wide-ranging and seemingly random, and he has specialized interests in rock, metal, blues, funk, jazz, classical, and acoustic music.
He has a certain weakness for 1970s-1990s prog rock, including the music of Rush, Dixie Dregs, Yes, King Crimson, Kansas, Dream Theater, and many more.
Another of his favorite bands is Tool, as they explore a unique musical space, complete with a dark rhythmic soundscape, twisted poetry, and otherworldly visual art.
David also enjoys modern instrumental-minded artists, such as Animals As Leaders, Tesseract, Periphery, Intervals, and Jeff Loomis.

David has independently recorded, released, and distributed five instrumental guitar albums, including his recent release 'Cosmic Mind' an instrumental music tribute to the works of HP Lovecraft. His other albums include the Edgar Allan Poe tribute album 'The Raven' and 'Terrestrial Planet' an instrumental guitar tribute to the original DOOM video game.
His latest recording project is an official music tribute to artist HR Giger, entitled 'Biomechanik Musik,' which was released online on February 28th 2014.
