Here is a song recorded about 15 years ago for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity album, Heart of England. I was updating my website the other day and since this band no longer exists I thought I'd remove it from there and give the song one more whirl on Soundcloud.

The Joyce Gang were based here in the South West of the UK but played all over the UK and occasionally abroad. Irish traditional music was the starting point but it was a real melting pot of styles and it was a great band to watch live. I was in the band for 17 years. This song is about the Plymouth squaddie's experience of the Falklands war and contrasts it with “life as usual” back home. I play Uillean Pipes, Irish whistle and tenor sax, John Redmond is on bodhran and lead vocal and Paul Downes plays mandocello and provides backing vocals.
