Steve D started Djing in late 1999 with only a basic Gemini starter’s kit. Now, however, he has moved out of the world of belt drives turntables, home stereos and bedroom Djing into the vast word of Auckland Night Clubs and dance events.
Steve got his start playing a niche genre called 'Hardcore'. A fast paced 170+ bpm 4-to-the-floor energetic style of music where anything goes.
During this stage of his career Steve has supported international superstars such as Kevin Energy, Sharkey, Arkitech, Squad-E, Lou Lou, A.M.S and Al Storm and played at many of Aucklands most popular night clubs including The Power Station, Studio, The Transmission Room, The Crypt, Space Bar, Galatos, Kiss Bar and Bachio.
He still plays the odd hardcore set every now and again under the alias 'Darkmain'.
With over 10 years of DJing experience Steve has made the transition from Hardcore to Commercial House and Electro with out even batting an eyelid, managing to secure a residency at R'toto. One of Takapuna's most popular bars, right from the start.
Now days you will be able find Steve in the heart of the city playing at one of Auckland's busiest nightclubs, Degree Gastro Bar, located right on Auckland's waterfront, playing all the biggest dance anthems and latest dance hits to an always energetic crowd.
Through his residency at Degree he has been able to play along side some of New Zealand's biggest local talent including Karn Hall, Sample G, General Lee, Grant Marshall, Jarrod Phillips, Jason Eli and fellow resident David James.
