@Danny Stewart: Yes, well, where Mr. Wizard fears to tread is probably best left unvisited. I actually have the old gigastudio rig networked with VNCThing and a little piece of proprietary script written by the tech who built the rig. Works great, but sometimes has been difficult to set up in a new location. I suspect, somehow, that in the end, what one thinks one gains by setting up a CPU hog to run on a separate system is offset by the time it takes to make it all come together. I've been thinking again about hardware synths, which surprises me a little. I did that gig for so long and, when I moved them all out of the studio, I felt so much better. But now....I don't know....it's not the sound I crave, it's the focus. Devoting a machine to a VI feels like it might bridge the gap, fill the void, rock my world. Who knows?

@Danny Stewart: This suggests buffering to me. Interesting. I encounter similar problems/fixes when I have multiple VIs running within a cue. I have considered off-putting VIs to different Mac Minis, but the whole networking setup makes me queasy. I get so tired of the tech getting in the way of my work. But, what's a girl to do? Tech, tech, tech.
