Mira, from Latin Mira, "wonderful, amazing" is a variable star in the constellation of Cetus that owes its name to its extreme light intensity change from being one of the brightest stars in the sky to not be visible to the naked eye over a period of 332 days. It is a red giant travelling at a high speed through space, leaving a long trail of material behind it. A white dwarf companion Mira B was discovered in 1995 and it's absorbing the dying art of Mira A and developing a protoplanetary disk.
This piece was commissioned and premièred by UMS 'n JIP duo at Festival Mixtur in Fabra&Coats, Barcelona on April 26th.
