I had the pleasure of seeing this amazing DJ way way back in the old school new school days and he blew my mind...@ Connect (electronic music festival in Sask) he played @ the mainstage (back when that was the only stage ;) and while he slayed his heavy bass lines a storm was brewing on the outskirts of the party...I've never been sooo hypnotized!! The hot summer wind circled around the dance floor as lightning and thunder surrounded us and this guy who we'd never heard of before showed us the way...the bassy breaks way...it was seriously a highlight of my Connect attending career and one of my top 5 fave DJ set's I've seen play live EVER!! Then again he played @ the 1st Smoke Breaks party on April 20th in Regina alongside Scissorkicks...for 4hrs and 20min these guys played (midnight - 4:20am) and completely annihilated us all with their heavy bassy breakbeats...in my opinion he is/was the best @ doin what he did/does? Layin down the heaviest bass I've ever heard and rippin it up proper!! I have much love and respect for many DJ's and musician's all over the world but this guy Jake Smith aka Subtropic seriously changed my life!! A special thanks to my girlfriend Erin Ferguson for bringing me this CD many many moon ago I rocked it sooo hard for sooo long...then couldn't find it for years until now!!! I still can't get enough...it brings back crazy memories of my craziest friends that I love love LOVE sooo much u know who u are ;) Enjoy!!! ♥
