About

Dancing For Architecture is the compositional sound world and pseudonym of composer/producer Matthew Richards. He hails from the city of Bristol; a thriving musical epicenter nestling at the top of the south-western pocket of England. Established on the 9th October 2008 originally as a duo, Matthew took over the name Dancing For Architecture as a solo artist in April 2010. Dancing For Architecture's sound is best described as an ambient, down-tempo foundation upon which melodic and harmonic ideas emerge and develop. These explorations are layered in a fashion that may draw parallels with post-rock, jazz, and electronic music, however Dancing For Architecture is a unique sonic experience, existing it's own, hard to define genre.

Matthew plays electric and acoustic guitars, bass, keyboards, organ, glockenspiel, violin and viola and programs drums from individual recorded samples and found sounds. He is currently working on his third full length album entitled 'Morphology'. This album also features Porcupine Tree's Colin Edwin on fretless bass, Josh Brown on drums and Dominic Thatcher on assorted saxophones.
