@L'atelier musical: Thanks -- just beating my hand on the ukulele and playing it as a sample with Ableton's drum rack.

Nice, the bell-like sounds are as if slightly detuned or heavily chorused...gives an Alien sort of feel...

ukulele guitar ableton acoustic

Well, how about something completely different?
One ukulele, one guitar, six pilsners, Ableton Live (ping pong delay, flanger, some Reaktor Banaan Electrique), sampled tympani, tambourine and crash cymbal. Recorded via an Audio Technica 2035 mic into my MOTU Ultralite in my anything but soundproof illustration studio/garage.
My friend Jon came by the studio last night with his guitar. I've never tried running an acoustic instrument through my Ultralite so I'm not sure I actually had any idea what I was doing. I tuned up my ukulele and played some notes and chords into my microphone. Mostly just C and F. Jon followed that up. I edited the whole thing later. Jon suggested the dramatic percussion for effect. The beating tom-tom is me thumping on the uke.
We think we might do this again and maybe learn a little about how to make it sound better. More synthesizers, too.
