With this mantra now firmly in mind, I introduce you to Damon Black.
His love affair with the Drum & Bass genre started back in 2005 when he first heard artists such as Noisia and Calyx, along with laying his eyes upon a copy of ATM magazine.
"I was introduced to a side of it I'd never heard before and was just completely overwhelmed by the sound....I never knew Drum & Bass had a dark side to it."
Since then, he's taken to the streets on a mission to redefine West Coast Drum & Bass and bring it to the masses.
"Influence is everything and it comes from everywhere, so I take it as it comes."
Fueled by this newly-discovered sound, Damon set to work molding his own genre; incorporating elements from various other styles of music including hip-hop, classic rock, and 80's pop, Damon's sound will bring you to a kick-you-in-the-gut world reminiscent of Dieselboy, but with a hip-hop inflection that you won't soon forget.
The first fruits of his labor was the "Against The Grain" EP, which saw it's official digital release on June 1st, 2009; a free download for the fans.
