Need a gift for a gifted musician?
Originating from the United States, Dalahäst is the solo project of Elizabeth Lawrensen. A lifelong musician and songwriter from the age of 14, Elizabeth has performed in numerous ensembles as a singer, trumpeter, violinist, and pianist. Influenced by a musical past in art music, jazz, sacred music and musical theatre as well as frequent involvement in the indie-rock scene, Lawrensen’s current style can be heard as a melting pot of these influences.
Drawing influences from “Bat for Lashes”, “Stars”, “Imogen Heap”, to “Vanessa Carlton”, Dalahäst’s sound can be described as melody driven electronic rock. Her keyboard and synth textures lead into sweet vocal lines courted by fascinating trumpet interludes.
Currently living in Hong Kong, Elizabeth is a strong advocate for the support of local artists and musicians as a fundamental piece of any culture-rich city. She believes art is the voice of the heart of the people: “Anyone with an open ear will be able to participate in the heart-to-heart conversation that can exist through the art of music.”
