It begins in Essex. Not only D-Code’s hometown, but where Rave culture was born. At 15, D-Code invested in a record - Drum & Bass Selection 1 - that changed his outlook forever. As soon as Track 1 came on he knew that he’d been changed. The Dark Stranger by the Boogie Times Tribe plus the revelation that was The Prodigy's debut album cemented his love for rave music.

Then came the raves. Moondance at Camden Palace remembers his gleaming face as well as Telepathy, Junglemania, One Nation, Desire and World Dance. Record shops fast became shrines - Boogie Times in Romford, Music Power in Ilford, Unity and Black Market in the West End. As a teenager every penny went on vinyl…food? No, vinyl.

Decks were bought, ear drums were perforated, neighbours complained.

It got serious when he started playing on pirate radio under the name 'Blade' - Eruption FM, Rude FM, and one of the first internet radio stations gaialive.co.uk. His insatiable appetite wanted more: the studio was set up in 2005 and the learning curve began.

One night at a Warehouse party in Hackney D-Code met Nerm who had set up Shiva Soundsystem, a record label and collective of DJs & producers who were based in East London. D-Code and Nerm shared a common taste for Drum & Bass, The Prodigy, Prince, The Sex Pistols and over whisky and women, a friendship struck up.

2006 saw D-Code's first release on Shiva Soundsystem Recordings - 'Mumbai Cells' and collaborations with Ram Records' Sparfunk (Ex-Moving Fusion) on material for his new label Terrafunk Records.

Now with a raft of Drum & Bass productions championed by the dons of the scene (Fabio, London Elecktricity and Andy C among others), D-Code is the primary tune maker in the camp. With a production style that now blurs the line between Drum & Bass and Electro Punk.

In 2009 the collective released their debut LP Phasmatis in Machina which shot to number 3 in the Drum and Bass charts and number 10 in the DMC charts, with have-to-hear collaborations with Foreign Beggars, Shaair & Func and Elio D’Anna Jr.

D-Code’s distinct musical signature and lively DJ sets turned heads at BBC Radio 1 and in 2008 alongside Nerm, they presented their own show as part of ‘In New DJs We Trust’. A year and a half later they stand dizzied after stepping in for Mary Anne Hobbs, sharing the mic with Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Zane Lowe, Fabio & Grooverider and featuring a wide range of guests including Matt Helders from Arctic Monkeys, Norman Jay, Marky, Rusko, Andy C, Foreign Beggars, London Elektricity, Sub Focus, The Count & Sinden. The duo maintain close ties with the station and regularly appear as presenters across the BBC networks.

D-Code produced the backbone of the album and delivers stunning collaborations with UK Hip Hop stars Foreign Beggars, New York and Mumbai’s electronic duo Shaair & Func and Italy’s Elio D’Anna Jr.

His latest appointment as a lead remixer for the newly released smash music computer game “DJ Hero” has made him as one to watch within the music industry. His track 'Annie's Horn' as the only Drum & Bass on the game, mashed up and remixed with DJ Shadow. ‘Annie’s Horn’ will be heard and enjoyed in a few million homes by Christmas 2009.

D-Code has worked alongside Jazzy Jeff, Grandmaster Flash and Tiesto. He's a touring DJ, music producer, Radio 1 presenter, has held down residencies at club nights across the UK and is regular performer at festivals including Glastonbury, Lovebox and Bestival.
