Cynicism Management is a band dedicated to recording worldwide smash hit singles in odd time signatures. Check cynmanagement.blogspot.com for status reports.

Cynicism Management is a progressive rock / heavy prog project, originating from Slovenia but currently located in Berlin, Germany. It is a brainchild of vocalist Monika Fritz and musician, producer, writer and lyricist Borut Praper. The scheme started out in late 2008 as a "literary musical" experiment: the basic idea was to write a novel featuring a "fictional" band called Cynicism Management and record music to go with it.

As this cunning plan was undertaken by people who are musicians to their very core, it is perhaps not surprising that the band's first album with a poetic title Tit (small bird of the Paridae family) was released in May 2011, well before the novel (free download available at Jamendo and Bandcamp). The "tangible" CD release was followed in September by a digital release under the AMAdea Music label. In 2012 the band released an internet single entitled Opus 0 single on Jamendo, Bandcamp, and last.fm.

A live lineup of the band had also been formed before the novel saw the light of day and performed at a number of concerts between 2010 and 2012. This was actually not a part of the original “strategy” and, naturally, at this point it would be completely idiotic if the real band insisted it was in fact some other, “fictional” band. However, the last “live incarnation” of Cynicism Management has been on hiatus since July 2012, as its two founding members moved to Berlin in October 2012, where they continue working on the project.

The fictional, incorporeal band is also alive and well. In July 2013 Cynicism Management - the novel was published by the UK e-book publisher Aventura eBooks and can be purchased in the Aventura eBookstore as well as in other e-book stores, for example Amazon and Kobo. For more information about the novel and the music that goes with it see this post on Cynicism Management blog.

Former band members of Cynicism Management include guitarists Jan Urbanc, Aljaž Tulimirović[, Enej Demirović and Andrej Babič, bassist Samo Pečar, as well as sound engineer, keyboardist, laptop operator and knob expert Aljoša Mislej. After their move to Berlin, Monika and Borut have once again dedicated themselves to studio work and released a four-track Shadow Chasers EP in late 2013. Guitar solos on the EP have been recorded by Jure Praper.
