Cygne Noir is Danny Ashe, a singer, musician, producer and DJ who got his start as part of Miami’s music scene before moving to Germany.
Ashe, born Daniel Guzman, was born in Santiago Chile and moved to Miami, Florida in 1983. He began playing the guitar and writing songs when he was thirteen. In the late 90s during the Britpop explosion, Miami saw a whole new breed of bands emerge; Daniel’s band Lunabelle was among the forerunners of that scene. In 2002 he began DJing at a number of clubs under the name Danny Ashe, while working as a sound engineer for a Fort Lauderdale based recording studio. He then formed Marqui Adora, a more polished rock band, incorporating ingredients of electronic music with a strong emphasis on studio production. As his skills increased he began to write and produce his own material and in 2008 recorded the first demos of what would eventually become Cygne Noir.
Danny relocated to Cologne, Germany in 2010 and began recording Cygne Noir’s first EP Celebrate Love. The EP was released in February of 2012 and was followed in November of that same year by the second EP Wake Up Your Mind. Following the release of the two EPs, Danny Ashe went back in the studio to write and record his first full-length album. Halcyon Days Are Here Again, a collection of 10 songs covering the spectrum of Danny Ashe’s musical influences, was released in July 2013.
