Yes, the rumours are true: it's our final podcast of 2012... Aww!

Cycling Central online editor-in-chief Phil Gomes assumes the speaker's chair for the last time this calendar year, flanked by trusty sidekicks Al Hinds and Anthony Tan.

The week got off to a bad start with news that the Women's Tour of New Zealand organiser Jorge Sandoval was forced to cancel next year's event, reportedly as a result of anti-doping requirements imposed by the UCI. One for new Oceania prez Tracey Gaudry or too late to salvage?

On the flip side, grassroots racing for girls continues to grow Down Under, with the second series of the Cykel WGP set to kick off this weekend in Melbourne. We speak to its organiser-cum-promoter Rob Carson and discover what makes these chicks' crits tick.

And how 'bout Katusha getting shafted for a WorldTour licence?! We didn't see that coming - did you? Housing the world's number one rider Joaquim Rodriguez it certainly wasn't for sporting reasons - so was it ethical or financial, then?

The breakaway World Series Cycling league ramped up its PR presence this week; we wonder over its feasibility in order for it to become something more than a pipe dream.

And lastly, Doctor Phil asks Al and Tanny who's been naughty and who's been nice, and whether Santa will spank them or salute them.

    Drum roll, thanks maestro...
