I have recently created a website for my music: http://www.bruce-cropley.com, through which you can buy mp3s of my most popular pieces, or the whole Modal Podal album as a CD. :)
I have also set up an online radio station: Quirky Music, which consists of pieces by SoundCloud artists: http://www.live365.com/stations/brucecropley
If you are on ReverbNation, let me know - I'm getting a bit lonely there :)
If you haven't heard this well considered complaint about the new SoundCloud already, I suggest you have a listen: http://soundcloud.com/rothwhyler/copy-of-pete-owens-thoughts-on
Cropleyb is a project who steadfastly refuses to write about himself in the third person.
We like lots of different types of music, mainly Jazz, Latin, Classical, Electronic, 60s, 70s & 80s.
My aim is to compose music in every style I like. It could take me a while. :)
My influences include: Dave Brubeck, Mike Oldfield, Cubanismo, Bill Evans, JS Bach, The Beatles, AC Jobim, Thelonius Monk, Gil Evans, Michael Jackson and many others.
It has studied piano, trumpet and drums with a few different teachers. I used to jam regularly with friends, and have been in a few bands. Our musical interests have been mainly jazz and latin.
At the moment, they are using Logic Studio 9 with Garritan's Jazz And Big Band sounds for some brass tracks. I haven't had a keyboard controller until recently, so most of my pieces were created by putting all the notes in manually with my mouse pad. We know that sounds crazy. My hand-eye co-ordination is not so good as I have (had?) brain cancer. In mid-April I bought a StudioLogic/Fatar VMK-161+. The touch is great, but the programming of the other controls has been too daunting for me so far. It doesn't work well with Garritan instruments that use the Mod-Wheel (CC1) for volume as the Pitch Bend and Modulation are controlled by a joystick, and it's not easy to adjust one without bumping the other. We may be able to work around this, but haven't got to it yet...
In August '12 the project has bought an Eigenharp Pico to help with expressiveness. It has taken him a little while to get started with it, but the sounds it can make are amazing. To give ourselves some more sounds to play, we bought NI Komplete 5. To generate music more quickly, they bought Band In A Box 2012.5.
Make sure you look at the genres of my music before you press the play button; the styles are very different.
They have also created two demo pieces which contain excerpts from several of our pieces: Demo (links to individual pieces are in the comments) by Cropleyb
Demo 2 (please post on the linked tracks, not here) by Cropleyb
We aim to create musical pieces that are profoundly irrelevant to society, both creative, musical and humorous.
Anyway, I hope you like my compositions, please comment on them.
BTW I'm usually open to collaboration, particularly with vocalists. Send me a message if you're interested.
