Its all the live version this - i just edited lots of little tiny bits in it that you probably cant even hear that well (but took forever). the 1234 sample is actually the lead singer of Konk - but he sounds just like david byrne so happy days.
the staple singers version is awesome. I did try to get some of that in, but the tempo and vibe of it was totally different to this one...

Thanks for the comments Andy - I wanted to extend the track out and not use the vocal as much - i love the track so much I didnt want to play around with the vocal, so I left that all intact in the middle sort of half of the song. The edit was intended to make a long version of the "live" version of slippery people from the stop making sense tour - as I think its better than the original, and also has a bit more energy. So the purpouse in a way was to extend the bits around the vocal and and some sweeps and fills to give it a bit more life around that. Im not 100% i have got it right yet though, so thanks for the feedback...

I guess with a song I know so well what I'd like to hear edit wise is the bits that get me most goose bumped over and over. Maybe work in the vocal section with the breaks.
I'm very loving of Talking Heads so will be almost impossible to please
