Cosmic Boogie started out three years ago as a collective home for a few like minded DJ’s to get together and play dance music to those that wanted to listen, ably backed by scene leader and contributor Greg Wilson. Based in Liverpool but with hooks into other parts of north west UK, it has now grown into much more than originally intended. Cosmic Boogie is now a record label in its own right, a DJ / production alias for Stu Robinson, and a banner to learn and understand all the different shapes of disco, funk, soul, electro and boogie, be they old or new.
Stu (Cosmic Boogie) has been playing with sound for around ten years now, everything from early house to drum and bass, and then back to disco, soul and funk. This is born from a passion for music that was pretty insatiable, and a thirst for knowledge of the origins of many of the samples, loops and rhythms that make electronic music what it is today.
He has played alongside the likes of Theo Parrish, Ashley Beedle, Trus'me, Chris Duckenfield, Greg Wilson and Optimo, helping run the successful archive night in Liverpool. Musical Influences range from Talking Heads to Roni Size, Roy Ayers to Emperor Machine, The Undisputed Truth to Leftfield, and DJ influences from such legends as Ron Hardy, Chicken Lips, James Murphy, Larry Levan, Marcus Intalex and Gilles Peterson to name but a few.
In 2009, the first Cosmic Boogie edits were released and the Cosmic Boogie record label was launched. The imprint is also set to feature edits from Ashley Beedle and Greg Wilson amongst others. The first release picked up DJ play from Laurent Garnier, Ashley Beedle, Chris Duckenfield, Richard Sen, The Revenge, Dicky Trisco and Optimo amongst others, and only bodes well for future funk tinged releases. The second release on the Cosmic Boogie label will be from scene legend Ashley Beedle, so Cosmic Boogie is moving from strength to strength.
Stu can be found mixing and writing for his blog Cosmic Boogie, on web radio, guesting in fancy and not so fancy nightclubs, and maybe, just maybe...on a few of edits in your record collection.

Its great this track - I just put it on my disco deviance promo mix which should be out soon. Really like it, great work and good luck.

I also grew up listening to this in my dads car and this is bloody great. Really - top work.

Yeah I think its about 2/3 weeks away from release. I have the mastered test pressings and it sounds great...ill put the buy link up when its ready (the version on here is the unmastered version - the mastered one blows it away completely)

They appear to have cursed my football team
haha what a great track - mental.
clarky - i played this edit out a few times now and am about to put it on a mix - its really good. I love this slow stuff.
@leftside - yeah i kind of did that on purpouse - im listening to it over and over again though (as you can imagine) so maybe ill iron that out, and a few other bits
@clarky - nice one - full version uploaded over weekend
Its not something I could play out myself this, and usually I really dont like trancey elements in tracks - but I enjoyed that. Its well produced and flowed just right. Good work...
(now do some disco)
stu
great percussion - great sound - dont know the original but whatever you have done it works
Thanks for the props - sadly, CB label is vinyl only. It has to be like that for copyright reasons really - at least if its vinyl only then its dj play only, and that can get you out of some hairy situations. I dj using Serato myself so luckily I have the best of both worlds...
I just got the mastered cuts back today - seriously, change the whole track. Really sound great...
Hi no - sorry, this will be vinyl only. All the Disco Deviance releases are as far as I know...
This kind of stuff is not usually my cup of tea but this is great as its got ravey bits in it.
Rave Disco!
Please send it to me post haste!
Thats really good - WAV me up when its done.
you really have some talent with those delays :-)
No direct news on when this is out yet, i do have a release lined up for it of sorts but plenty other things in the pipeline at the moment. Ill keep you posted but thanks for all the kind words.
for those interested this is coming out on the 4th of November on disco deviance...
brilliant.
Yeah man greg has been battering this and the talking heads for a while now, and a few others.
This is great - can I get a WAV off this? Really brought a smile to the face it did.
wav me up clarky - improves the original for sure (better flow)...
Are the beats off the beginning what kanye west stole for the only ever good track he did- heard em say?
