Originally from Switzerland, Cortega has seen his reputation grow as a DJ on the Afrobeat and House scenes in Washington, DC since 2005. He has played in major clubs in the region, including Cielo, U Street Music Hall, Thievery Corporation’s Eighteenth Street Lounge, the Warehouse:Loft , Patty Boom Boom, Liv, Science Club, Sweet Spot and Grotto among others. He has also performed at major electronic music events, like Miami’s Winter Music Conference (WMC) or Earth Dance Nairobi.

In recent years, he has shared the decks with DJs of international renown such as Spinna, Black Coffee, Boddhi Satva, MiCasa, Maurice Joshua, Nickodemus, DJ Clock, Wiseacre, Sabo, Kimozaki, Oscar P, Mbuso, Green Giant, Voodoo Funk, Underdog, and Chris Burns to name a few.

In 2011, Cortega moved to Nairobi where he contributes to the development of the deep house scene. He tours globally with his ELECTRAFRIQUE party, which blends new African electro such as Coupé Décalé, Mzansi house, Kwaito and Kuduro, with deep and soulful House from all over, infused with African rhythms.
