Musicians use the internet to share their music and collaborate with other artists from all over the world. But how does this change the music-making process? And how does it shape the music itself?
To help answer these big questions, @Jane Shin spoke with a couple of this year’s SoundCloud Fellows, whose projects explored the challenges and triumphs of community collaborations -- online and offline.
@kennedykarate is based in Los Angeles, but for his Fellowship project, NightBus Radio, he traveled around the US by Greyhound bus, capturing the culture, sounds and stories of the people he met - and making music along the way.
@guidebooks decided to let the music come to them and asked SoundCloud users from around the world to send them raw sounds and samples, which they then bended, molded and forged into a full-length EP.
