About
From an early age, cousins Tim Commandeur and Chris Holland have harboured a mutual passion for music and songwriting. By the time they were aged 12 and 13, the boys had already recorded an EP in Tim's father's studio, continuing to write and produce music together throughout their teens.
In 2005, drummer Tim became one of the founding members of ARIA Award-winning pop group Operator Please, later to be joined by Chris on keyboards in 2008. Over the next few years, they experienced a lot together, writing, recording, touring extensively (both overseas and around Australia) playing some of the worlds most renowned venues and festivals. This led the boys to realise their lifelong ambition: to form a band of their own. Colour Coding was born.
Tim and Chris spent most of 2011 writing and demoing songs and, in September, entered Sydney's new Hurley Studios to record their self produced debut EP, 'Proof'. The EP was mixed by DnR Music, who have worked with artists including Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Oasis, Ladyhawke and Faker.
In November of 2011, Colour Coding uploaded their first track online for free download. The song, 'Perfect', was described by Breaking More Waves (breakingmorewaves.blogspot.com) as a combination of "…shimmering synths, uplifting melodies and the best hooky whistling on a pop song we've heard since 'Young Folks' by Peter, Bjorn and John". 'Perfect' was added to the fourth digital release by New York label Cosine Records, bringing it to the attention of numerous reputable blogs worldwide.
March has seen the boys release their debut EP 'Proof', their first video clip and a taste of the live show.
