Colin Barr is an active member of the global entertainment community and has been for over three decades. His energy and enthusiasm coupled with his vision and creativity have seen him consistently redefine going out in his native Glasgow. Colin has many passions; music, travel, clubs, interiors and people, all of which combine to make him one of the industry’s most exciting operators.
He is the ultimate host; from a simple meet and greet, making sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable in the surroundings to the personal touch at the bar to delivering a hip soundtrack perfect for the occasion, no detail is left to chance. Colin Barr has spent thirty years turning party hosting into an art form!
While there is no arguing that Colin enjoys a good party, his continued success owes a lot to his ability to balance business and pleasure. His business exploits as varied as they are many and play no small part in transforming Glasgow from a dark, intimidating city to hip, multicultural metropolis.
1980 -Bennets – Glasgow’s first gay club , which remains open today, thirty years after its launch.
1985 -Fresh @ Joe Papperazzi –Legendary club party that was a popular hang out for local celebrities and international VIP’s as well as the city’s more discerning clubber. People still talk of their ‘White Night’!
1990 -The Tunnel – The UK’s first super club where design and music merged spectacularly and took clubbing in the UK onto a whole new plane. The club still trades to this day and the concept was adopted by other UK operators, including Cream in Liverpool and London’s Ministry Of Sound.
1995 -The Apartment – Glasgow’s first members club where Colin hosted parties for the hippest bands and celebrities, including Natalie Umbruglia, Oasis, The Clash, INXS, The Spice Girls & David Beckham, Giorgio Armani, Paul Smith, Sir Terrance Conran, Ocean Colour Scene, Simply Red, Scottish Peoples Film Festival, Jude Law, Kevin McKidd, Robert Carlisle, Sean Pertwee and Ewan McGregor, to name but a few.

Colin Barr’s reputation, while predominantly earned in his home city of Glasgow, stretches far and wide. He is the go to guy for many celebrities and brandsevents hosting & DJING @ events for the following film premiers and brands; Ralph Lauren opening , Vanity Fair New York , Gattica, Gerry Maguire, As Good As It Gets, Men In Black, Scottish Fashion Awards, Cruise, Giorgio Armani @ the Tramway, Mr Nice Howard Marks book launch, Absolut Vodka , Moet & Chandon Rose launch at london fashion week , Pommery Champagne, Grande Marnier, Henndricks Gin, Havana Club, Smirnoff Black, Magners, Rekordalig, Kopparberg and Bacardi………….. and on and on
Colin has also owned or played a part in numerous other well known and much loved Glasgow establishments – The Choice, Big Beat Ltd, Bar Luxembourg, Cul De Sac, The Volcano (famed for its inclusion in global smash Trainspotting), The Lounge, The Living Room Bar, The Apartment Club Members club, Salty Dog (Cocktails & Seafood), Bastille (Cool French Café) and The Republic Bier Halle Chain, famous for its incredible beer selection and delicious pizza, all enjoyed in the unique atmosphere that Colin Barr has made a living generating.
Fast forward to 2011 and Colin continues to add to his creative portfolio with two exciting new projects, Soundpuddle and Chambre69. Soundpuddle is a one stop music shop, delivering hip soundtracks for exclusive venues throughout the world; from the latest Boutique Hotel to join the london / New York scene to the most exclusive beach bar in Miami these play lists, filled with rare grooves and hard to find nuggets, will be used by the world’s top operators and will entertain global opinion makers.
