U.S. Rep. Todd Akin, R-Missouri, said Sunday he misspoke when he said in an earlier interview that "legitimate rape" rarely resulted in pregnancy. Akin also expressed opposition to abortion in cases of rape. Still, the Senate hopeful's initial comments shocked Lauren Wolfe, Director of the Women Under Siege, a project that collects and catalogs rape in conflict zones. Wolf worries that Akin's comments might harm rape survivors and make it more difficult for people to speak out about the trauma they've experienced.
