Cluekid comes from a vast musical background where music was in his blood. He played the drums in his younger years and his father was a keen guitarist.
Around his teenage years Cluekid got into jungle & grime, leaning more towards the bassline beats, building the foundation for his musical future.
In 2006 Bristol’s most well known Dubstep purveyor, Pinch, picked up Cluekids first release for his Earwax imprint which helped to catapult Cluekid into the dubstep scene.
Cluekid continued to work on his music, rewarded with a number of 12” releases under his belt, his profile was increasing and his name was being heard everywhere. Cluekid then started collaborating with one of the biggest names in Dubstep, Skream, they started working in the studio together co-producing Cluekids first release on Skreams Disfigured Dubz label, which also went on to be remixed by GothTrad two years later.
Off the back of his recent big releases Cluekid wanted to establish an output for not only his music but for producers around him who have been making great music and launched his new label Bullfrog Beats. Bullfrog Beats went on to release a number of his own tracks that year which included the releases ‘Frogs on Acid’ and ‘Toadstep’ which saw his records demand shoot skyward. After a brief absence Cluekid relaunched Bullfrog beats in late 2011 with a slew of new and forthcoming releases which have been going down a treat the world over and you can expect a lot more in the future.
Topping off a huge year, Cluekid released ‘The Legacy’. A track that would put Cluekids name down in history as one of the pioneers of the 140bmp jungle sound and one of the tracks of the year also going on to be featured on the Fabric live compilation!
Moving into 2008 which see’s his biggest release to the date with ‘Hovercraft’ out on Ringo Records and two new 12”s on his Bullfrog beats which show his production knowledge growing and quality increasing. With his mounting talents Cluekid went on to release a number of tracks on Soul Jazz record teaming up with Vocalist Arorah, expressing his musical side and diversity as an artist. Returning to Pinchs Earwax imprint another 12” hit the streets and Cluekid teams up with L.D. for their first release of many, capturing his 140bpm jungle vibe with ‘I Don’t wanna cry’ making another huge impact on the scene and placing Cluekid as one of the top established producers in the scene.
Over the next year Cluekid released on of his biggest tracks on Australian label, Aqautic Labs which was followed up in early 2012 with another high quality 12” as well as another 12” with L.D. on Ringo, and two 12”’s on his own Bullfrog Beats imprint.
Cluekid initially set out just to make music and the DJing part wasn’t something he’d thought about pursuing, that was until 2006 when Cluekid was making a lot of noise on the dubplate scene with his tracks getting picked up and played by the scenes top DJ’s, with the hype around his music he was booked to play at the world famous DMZ, a set to be his first gig and to cause an impact which would mean it was not to be his last. Cluekid absolutely loved the feeling of playing his music to a live audience and continued to practice and hone his mixing skills, as his tracks were seeing more releases his DJing gigs also picked up, seeing him tour all around the UK and Europe, out to the United States and tours to New Zealand and Australia as well as being asked to do a special live DJ set at the studios of BBC Radio 1 for Mary Anne Hobbs as well as radio appearances on Kiss FM and many others.
Cluekid returns to the forefront of production with a ton of new releases and has also been hitting the DJ circuit as hard as the studio.
