Uplifting northern melancholia in the spirit of the seventies!
Club Merano is a band from Helsinki, Finland influenced by progressive rock & psychedelic pop.
After years of exploring through several music styles from funk art-rock (Heads & Bodies) to electronic-discofunk (Accu) songwriter, musician Harpov settles down to his roots introducing the début album Club Merano - High Road (Exogenic Music Group).
Club Merano’s High Road album is an engaging song collection, analogically recorded (analog/digitally mastered) introspective listening experience, delivering moods from progressive rock, psychedelic pop, oriental music, folk, cinematic scores and spaghetti western (pasta nordica).
::: The band:
Harpov (vocals/acoustic guitar),
Sebastian Bisso Mifflin (bass),
Jussi Jaakonaho (electric guitar),
Juuso Saarinen (WLM-organ/Moog/piano),
'Guest player' (trombone),
Abdissa ‘Mamba’ Assefa (percussion),
Sami Kuoppamäki (drums)
"... Club Merano's debut album sounds like real work of love. A brilliant hippie pop spectacle.” Pekka Laine, Soundi.fi
"At its lightest the softly psychedelic and slightly cinematic 1970s progressive pop sounds like Air's more rocking relative and at its vaguest like a Beatles tribute band that has swallowed Pink Floyd and Rush. Just in case it wasn't clear, all those descriptions were compliments." Teemu Fiilin, WeAreHelsinki.fi
"... Club Merano has a fulfilled depth to their music, as well as melodies that feel truly relevant to the rest of the music. I can only hope that Club Merano puts out more music like this in the future." Conor Fynes, Progarchives.com
