Frank Ferrante has loved Groucho Marx and the comedy of the Marx Brothers since he was a kid. He began portraying Groucho onstage in 1985, the earliest incarnation of An Evening with Groucho, which returns to ACT Theatre this month (6/13 – 6/30). Combining improv, songs, comedy and an almost uncanny recreation of Groucho Marx, the show is always fresh and different. Over the years, as Frank has himself matured, his presentation of Groucho in this one-man show has deepened greatly. We sit down with Frank to talk about his unique relationship with this American comedy icon, about Groucho himself, and about why the distinctive humor of Groucho Marx is timeless.
