Clarke Gallery was set up by artist/curator Elly Clarke in her fourth floor, ‘Hinterhaus’ apartment in Neukoelln, Berlin in 2008 to show the work of Berlin based and associated artists. After hosting more then ten exhibitions in this space, (with work spreading to every corner of the apartment), Elly decided to expand, by taking exhibitions to other places. Over the past 18 months, Clarke Gallery exhibitions have travelled to Eastern Edge in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; Franklin Furnace in New York; Galerie Suvi Lehtinen in Berlin; TROVE in Birmingham, Meter Room in Coventry and, until September 2012 is in residence at the mac (Midland Arts Centre) in Birmingham, as part of ALLOTMENT.
