The third installment in the Neighborhood "Ballad" Project series, "The Man with the Iron Fist" is about Oliver P. Morton, the 14th Governor of Indiana during the American Civil War, and "a stalwart ally of President Abraham Lincoln...the famous "War Governor" unquestionably did more to help the war effort than any other man in the state, and earned the lifelong gratitude of former Union soldiers for his support." Morton Place (now Herron-Morton Place) neighborhood on the city's near northside was named for Oliver P. Morton.
Harrison Center for the Arts 2013 summer interns Andrew Christenberry, Brandon Lott and Tucker Krajewski have created the Neighborhood “Ballad” Project. This project serves to give creative recognition to urban Indianapolis neighborhood figures from the past to the present through the medium of spoken word poetry.
