Echo Breakfast – Live Local, Love Local at St. Michael’s Abbey

If your morning involves getting up at 7 o’clock with the aid of a grandé cup of coffee, just imagine how you'd feel getting up at 3am every single day. This is just a small part of the lives of the Benedictine monks who live at St. Michael’s Abbey in Farnborough. Their extremely early start is followed by a day of solemn prayer and solitude, following a rule dating back over 1,500 years. Back in March I was fortunate enough to gain an insight into their lives – and to savour the sound of silence, away from the trains and the traffic.
