I've been introducing my friends to music they haven't heard since I was a teenager. I'm from Rhode Island - born in 1981. My musical path has lead me through modern rock, drum and bass, late 90's trance, and into house/electronic music. Techno, minimal, prog, dare I say dubstep!? Genres aren't a very good way to classify music. I'd rather keep track of it by good production values. Clean highs - heavy bass - and a steady groove is what I'm looking for in a track. Whether its downtempo or peak time.
I started spinning electronic music in 99 with two turntables. Raves led to clubs. Twilo in NYC in particular was a turning point for me musically. A four-four bass drum kick was imbedded in my brain. Pulsating bass that rattled right through my lungs. High-hat loops that were crystal clear. And all the other frequencies that came out of the Phazon system certainly got the synapses firing. Watching Sasha and Digweed for 12 hours each month intently to see their every move was beyond educational. Since then I just want to mix beats and find the best combinations possible. I hope you enjoy my selections.
