About

Hey, thanks for stopping by, my name is Chris Cannady. I've been playing guitar for a while now, but I never wrote a song until a few years ago, and even that was really just meant for me so it was a while before anyone else ever heard it. That was all well and good, but my favorite aspect of music is that it can serve as a bridge of sorts, connecting individuals and allowing the exchange of ideas and feelings. Once I realized how magical it can be to have someone share a piece of his or herself with another via music, I decided that I wanted to be able to make a connection like that, to reach out to someone and share something, an emotion, a hint of a feeling.

Because I know that feelings and emotions can be communicated to some degree by sound, and that particular arrangements of sound and rhythm can affect us on a deeper level than others, I imagine each person as having unique song, a musical footprint you might say, which captures the essence of who that person is and even a bit of the general shape of their life, because of course the song is a lifetime long, developing and changing with the person, like a footprint. The goal of musicianship, at least my goal, is ultimately to come as close as I can to discovering that song, or at least pieces of how it might sound at any given time. It's about putting sound and rhythm together in a way that resonates with the soul like a tuning fork. That's what its all about.

I joined SoundCloud to share a bit of myself and the results of my journey as a musician with others and to observe the journeys of others, and maybe even to be able to share a little piece of my Song in the process.

@◄Jungle♦DOG►: Aw man, I really appreciate that. It's funny you think of memories, cause that's exactly what my tunes, particularly this one, tend to be. Or at least what they become, they start out as bits of ideas that build on each other over months until I realize that it feels finished, like it's finally a complete thought. This one in particular is extremely reminiscent of a particular time period in my life, playing it is like revisiting those days. Jeez I'm rambling, thanks for listening and I'm really glad you dig it!

I've been loving the feel of this song and I don't quite remember at which point it crossed over into awesomeness, but now we're rapidly heading toward epicness :P This sounds fantastic. I think we all secretly hope that we will do something one day that deserves a soundtrack this majestic and legendary.
