Another Theophilus download for you all - this time in the form of an hour long treat called ‘This Charming Mixtape’ which is a follow-up to his JAM! mixtape that caused serious interest on the net a while back.

Hailing from a variety of places in New York City but now calling Brooklyn home, Theophilus London (who goes by his real name) is the result of musical genres mixing together and having a profound impact in a positive way. “My mom played KISS FM, 98.7FM, all day. So all I knew was the Ojay’s, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, Luther Vandross, all those cats,” says the 21-year-old musical phenom.

More Prince than Tupac, and more art oriented than street, Theophilus has already started receiving recognition within the industry the New York’s emerging alternative music scene and endorsements from Rocksmith Clothing (he appeared in an online video for the streetwear brand), London has managed to tap into a fan base thirsting for music and style that not only defies conventions but re-imagines the landscape in an entirely different light. Not one to pay attention to detractors, Theophilus has already addressed those seeking to marginalize his music: “I think it’s more realer when you’re yourself. When you’re yourself and when they can’t put a label on you, then they’ll probably call you ‘hipster rap’, or ‘far left’, because they don’t know what it is,” he observes.

“More Prince than Tupac, and more art oriented than street”

“[This Charming Mixtape] is a soul record”, he says, “I want to take it back to different eras. Just an era that makes you feel good and makes you feel live”
