“Ploughing the kind of rough 'n' ready rock 'n' roll which made The Ramones or The Clash so beloved” (Clash Music, UK)

“The track is a big, arena-rocking track complete with wall-of-guitar sound and driving drums” (Surviving The Golden Age, US)

In July, China Rats were booked to play the tiny Villa Camp stage at Spanish festival BENICASSIM the night before the main festival started. The result was an impromptu mosh pit and a festival booker who wished he had booked them for the main festival. Except the following day, Bat For Lashes, who were booked to headline the 2nd Stage, couldn't make it onto the site and the festival booker had his chance. China Rats stepped up to the plate, bigger mosh pits ensued; it is the stuff of Rock n Roll folklore and a night they will never forget.

China Rats formed in Leeds in the Summer of 2011. They released their debut EP 'To Be Like I' in April this year and quickly earned the attention of Huw Stephens, which resulted in a spot on the BBC Radio 1 Introducing Playlist with an anthem called N.O.M.O.N.E.Y that I'm sure most of us can relate to. '(At Least Those) Kids Are Getting Fed' is the follow up. "…Kids Are Getting Fed" is written, produced and mixed by the band.

The Leeds 4-piece find inspiration for their songs through real life encounters and experiences. About the new track, singer Graeme Thomson says "Recently me and Luke were living in Armley which has got a reputation of being a pretty run down part of Leeds. We loved it though and the band still rehearses there. We wrote a bunch of songs whilst we were living there including "Kids Are Getting Fed" which was influenced by the local kids who used to hang out on our street". The video for the track was also filmed in and around the Armley.
